Job description

1. Secure, select, and coordinate publication of manuscripts in book form, identify areas from the Times Group Publications which can be repurposed into books
2. Conceptualisation of ideas for books, commission books from time to time as per sponsors' or corporate requirement and liaising with authors and reviewers throughout the production
3. Review submitted manuscript, determine demand based on consumer trends and personal knowledge, and make recommendations regarding procurement and revision
4. Working with authors and freelance writers to plan, organize, and present written material and graphics in the best possible manner
5. Work closely with design artists, compositors, production personnel, marketing departments, and experts in the field to design an attractive product
6. Role involves supervising a team of editors and designers - managing the entire books editorial operations

Desired Skills and Experience

1. Experience: 10-15 years of relevant experience in a publishing house as a books editor or in a leadership role
2. Creative thinking and writing style
3. Excellent copyediting, proofreading, and fact-checking skills
4. Linguistic sensitivity
5. Ability to multitask and work with tight deadlines
6. Knowledge in the areas of Travel, Food will be an added advantage
