The Job: Business Development Associate
Working in a start-up requires wearing multiple hats. The Business Development Associate will work closely with the team across all our businesses to help drive various sales and business development initiatives and helping to proactively build our brand amongst key target audiences. One of the key areas that this position will focus on is working closely with our marketing team to build out sales and new business lines with students, Universities and Colleges in countries like US, UK, Australia, and Canada for BrainGain Magazine. We are looking for a highly-motivated, research savvy individual to manage new business efforts at a rapidly-growing media and information company. The Business Development Associate will play a critical role for our international business development team that reports directly to the management team. Ideal candidates must possess excellent research and analytical capabilities; and strong written & verbal communication skills. We are looking for a detail-oriented individual able to thrive in a cross-cultural, entrepreneurial environment and collaborate across time zones.

Ideal Candidate:
- Undergraduate degree in any subject (business, finance or marketing is a plus)
- 0 – 3 years of experience (start up, sales/BD, education sector experience is a plus)
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Ready to take initiative, a go getter,
- Ability to work in a team as well as alone
- Drive to continuously learn
- Passionate about education and technology
- Work closely with the senior manager, editorial, marketing and tech teams to execute new business initiatives and growth strategy
- Conduct research around the key higher education markets like US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Germany, etc
- Conduct research and identify prospects aligned with the company’s focus areas particularly BrainGain Magazine
- Conduct research and help implement new revenue streams for the magazine.
- Create collateral relevant to business development activities. Examples include client case studies and credentials presentations that are customized to each new business pitch.
- Plan outreach and sales campaigns that will include cold calling phone, emailer campaigns and online advertising campaigns in collaboration with marketing team
- Manage all in-coming leads for prospects; maintain correspondence with local and international prospects from initial contact to sales close.
- Maintain trackers and database; generate reports on the status of lead generation, conversion rates and progress toward new business goals
- Attend networking events and proactively identify potential leads and growth areas
- Create new business revenues for One Globe Conference along with the conference’s organizing committee
- Some travel may be required. As sales and new revenue lines develop travel has potential to increase.
- Be flexible in adapting to new roles and responsibilities as in a startup environment there are multiple hats worn by each team member and growth can also be rapid depending on how much responsibility, ownership you are willing to take!
